Lanyon lands another perfect day at the plate as FNU defeats Southern Maine

DUBOIS, Pa. (May 13, 2026) — Florida National softball (27-18) had a four-for-four performance from Alisha Lanyon highlight a much-needed 5-2 win over Southern Maine Community College (27-11) Wednesday morning.

Sophia White pitched all seven innings of the win, helping FNU knock out the defending champs. Southern Maine, notably, won the 2025 USCAA Small College World Series with a 10-0 triumph against FNU after the Conquistadors earned a 4-0 win in game one of the championship round.

The Conquistadors avenged this defeat thanks in part to a great start offensively Wednesday. Lanyon got FNU on the board with an RBI single in the first before Elizabeth Owens once again came up big to score Lanyon on a double. Owens got a little overzealous running the bases on her hit and was called out at third to end the frame.

In the third, White reached first on an error and helped push in Lanyon's second run of the afternoon. Ahead 3-0, the Seawolves were able to make up some ground in the contest on a home run by Sloan Scotvold in the fourth. FNU negated this score with an RBI single from White and a sacrifice fly by Alyssa Julien.

White saw just one more score by the Seawolves in the sixth, ending the game with five strikeouts and one earned run.
