HIALEAH, Fla. (Feb. 24, 2026) — Florida National's men's and women's basketball teams had five student-athletes named as 2025-26 Winter Sport Scholar-Athletes by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Women's basketball had two upperclassmen earn their second consecutive honor, while men's basketball had three fresh faces recognized for their academic accomplishments.
"To qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year," said the NAIA press release Tuesday.
Jaycee Omeir and
Jullie Ruiz Paneto represented FNU women's hoops out of a list of 3,143 honorees this winter, while
Jonathan Norman,
Joan Bergua and
Serge Beauvoir III made up FNU's selections on the men's side.
