Clark and Johnson combine for 27 in road loss to UFTL Eagles

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2026) — Florida National (6-15) dropped its second consecutive game after the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles (11-14) went 7-10 from the three-point line in the first half Monday night. Seniors Trevon Clark and Cameron Johnson posted 13 and 14 points, respectively, in the latest iteration of this Eagles-Conquistador rivalry.

In the opening 20 minutes, Florida National trailed 55-44 entering the break, paced by a nine-point, 12-minute run from Serge Beauvoir III. Forward Houston Culpepper was great offensively for eight in the first half, as the Conquistadors shot the ball well at 47.1%. UFTL seemed unstoppable early on, however, going 23-35 from the floor (65.7%) and posting 20 assists to go along with 16 steals. This gave the home team an early cushion against an FNU squad hungry for a win, and Freddie Reeves was a huge part of the Eagles' success with 15 first-half points.

Slowing down Reeves and the Eagles seemed impossible for the Conquistadors in the second half, as UFTL went an impressive 18-20 from the free-throw line en route to outsourcing FNU 45-42 in the final period. Reeves was especially great at the line (6-6) and posted 14 more points in 14 minutes on the floor.

Within the lines, Corey Pope was finding his shot and ended the game 4-10 with 11 second-half points. FNU's three-point shooting left much to be desired at 3-12, but Johnson was a man on a mission with 14 points in 17 minutes. Culpepper knocked down a pair of threes and ended the half with nine more points to his total of 17.

Despite some bright spots on offense, FNU could not string together enough stops down the stretch to threaten UFTL's advantage in the critical closing minutes. Culpepper led the way with 17, while Ronald Fernandez posted eight rebounds and six points.

Up Next: FNU's Senior Night and final home game of 2025-26 is set for Feb. 19, as UFTL comes to Bucky Dent Park for a 6 p.m. rematch.
