Rodriguez earns first team All-CAC, FNU tallies three Gold Gloves

HIALEAH, Fla. (May 2, 2025) — Florida National senior Erick Rodriguez recorded the Conquistadors' lone Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) All-Conference First Team selection for 2025. Josh Higgins, Christopher Rivera and Fausto Sanchez secured Gold Glove nominations in their debut season at Florida National. 

Rodriguez batted .392 with 38 hits for the Conquistadors. He has 20 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .532. Rodriguez is also responsible for 64 putouts, a stolen base, three doubles and a triple. 

Nevada native Higgins made a splash in The Sunshine State, totaling five assisted putouts and 37 strikeouts on the mound for Florida National. He's pitched 34.1 innings and has a whip of 1.85. 

Rivera has been a major addition to Florida National's offense this season. The infielder from Lacey, Wash., has a staggering eight home runs, holds a .369 average and has racked up 36 RBIs. 

Sanchez totaled 42 putouts for Florida National in 37 games played. He also has eight assisted putouts and no errors in the outfield. He is a stout defender and base runner, picking up nine stolen bases in 2025.

Notably, FNU's Champion of Character selection was senior shortstop Jason Altuve.
