Rivera and Sanchez claim USCAA First Team nominations

HIALEAH, Fla. (May 12, 2025) — Florida National juniors Christopher Rivera and Fausto Sanchez earned first team selections from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) in their debut as Conquistadors.

The 2025 season saw FNU command the No. 1 spot in the USCAA Baseball Coaches' Poll for five weeks behind strong performances from Rivera and Sanchez. Third baseman Rivera led the team in batting average at .385 and hits with 45. The Lacey, Wash., native also had eight home runs and batted in 38 runners. 

Sanchez was not far behind Rivera in the home run department, delivering six of his own in 2025. Sanchez also had 40 RBIs and a team-high nine stolen bases. The Cabrera, Dominican Republic, was a staple at the top of FNU's lineup through all 39 games. 

Rivera and Sanchez turn their attention to the USCAA Small College World Series from May 12-15 in DuBois, Pa.
