De Armas’ Freshman of the Year win highlights FNU’s 2026 CAC All-Conference selections

HIALEAH, Fla. (April 29, 2026) — Florida National's Alejandro De Armas is the 2026 Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Co-Freshman of the Year, as the Conquistadors recorded one first team and two honorable mentions in the conference's end of year awards.

De Armas was a great addition to FNU's rotation in 2026, connecting on eight home runs, 46 hits and posting a .359 batting average in 41 games. The Hialeah, Fla., native had 32 RBIs and five doubles en route to an honorable mention from the CAC.

Abel Gutierrez was the Conquistadors' lone first team honoree, ending the 2026 regular season with a .314 average, 33 hits and 15 RBIs. Senior Christopher Rivera joined De Armas with an honorable mention nod from the conference, earning four home runs, 43 hits and 34 runs in 2026.

Senior Evan Dalmau was Florida National's choice for the conference's Champion of Character award.

FNU seeks a conference title starting today with a 3 p.m. game against Westcliff University.
