Cross country competes in 2025 STU Bobcat Invite

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Sept. 12, 2025) — Florida National's men's and women's cross country teams finished their second race of the 2025 season at the St. Thomas University Bobcat Invitational Sept. 12. The FNU women placed sixth in the 6K while the men came in eighth in the 8K.

On the men's side of the course, freshman Joandy Olivera was FNU's top finisher with a time of 31:40.6. Following closely behind was former NAIA national qualifier, Mario Martinez, who placed 46th with a time of 32:00.8. Senior Michael Kipchumba came in 57th (35:12.5), and Luis Martinez was the third-fastest runner among the FNU men at 33:44.5.

FNU's women were paced by a brilliant 2025 debut for Lismar Bentancourt. The former NAIA national qualifier placed 25th with a time of 25:47.4. Reigning Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Runner of the Week, Mia Betancourt, crossed the finish line in 46th place (29:24.1), and Karol Padilla ended the night six spots behind Betancourt after posting a time of 32:05.3.

The FNU men's team tallied a team score of 205, while the women earned a score of 174. The Conquistador women's 1-5 time split came in at 16:42, and the men's landed at 7:24.9.
