Bentancourt’s 12th-place finish highlights FNU’s time at FLRunners.com Invite

LAKELAND, Fla. (Oct. 3, 2025) — Florida National had a great showing at the 26th FLRunners.com Invitational at Holloway Park. Sophomore and Valencia, Venezuela, native Lismar Bentancourt placed 12th overall against tough NCAA DII runners.

Bentancourt finished the women's 6K with a time of 25:14.77, going head-to-head against runners from Florida Southern, University of Tampa, Lynn University and Palm Beach Atlantic University. Junior Mia Betancourt was the next fastest FNU racer, placing 41st with a time of 28:36.89. Moreover, Karol Padilla (30:18.55) crossed the finish line three spots after Betancourt, and Daryl Quichimbo was 49th with a time of 31:36.61.

As a team, FNU placed sixth out of six with a score of 156. 

In the men's 8K, junior Mario Martinez went to work in the morning, finishing 37th with a time of 30:02.44. Joandy Olivera was four spots behind Martinez, crossing the finish line at 30:28.07. Senior Michael Kipchumba had a time of 33:09.60, and newcomer Jose Richard Bomohagasi clocked in at 36:34.89. Nelson De Sousa Veloso (39:18.36) and Marven Cassamajor (39:14.44) placed 60th and 59th, respectively. 

The men's team ended the morning eighth out of eight teams with a score of 192.
