Bentancourt and Martinez earn CAC Runner of the Week honors

HIALEAH, Fla. (Sept. 8, 2026) — Conquistador cross country saw two veteran runners named Runners of the Week by the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC), following standout performances at the Keiser University Flagship Invitational.

For the Conquistador women, Lismar Bentancourt paced the field with a 21st place finish and a school record in the women's 5K.

"The Valencia, Venezuela, native covered the course in 19:30. That bested the previous school mark by eight seconds," said the CAC's press release Tuesday. "She competed against NCAA Division II runners from Florida-based Barry University, Lynn University and Nova Southeastern University.

Mario Martinez was the fastest runner for the Conquistador men in Boca Raton, Fla., ending his evening 5K with a time of 18:50.2.

"Mario Martinez, the men's recipient, posted a time of 18:50.2 in the 5-kilometer race at the Keiser meet," said the CAC. "The Miami native achieved the milestone from Division II runners from Barry, Lynn and Nova Southeastern."

Bentancourt and Martinez are back on the starting line this Friday at the St. Thomas University Bobcat Invitational.
