Conquistadors tally four All-CAC nominations; Huaroto-Luque Coach of the Year

HIALEAH, Fla. (Nov. 14, 2025) — Florida National was well represented in the 2025 Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Women's Volleyball All-Conference Teams, boasting four All-CAC members across first and second team honorees. FNU's Carlos Huaroto-Luque was named Coach of the Year for the second time in his storied career with FNU, and Kitula Amaya Morales took home Attacker of the Year.

Florida National stands undefeated against conference opponents this season (6-0), largely due to big performances from first team honorees Chriselle Ferdinand, Ariana Long, and Morales. Ferdinand leads this team with 300 kills and tallied 32 blocks in her freshman season. Long's junior year campaign has proved extremely successful, as the Homestead, Fla., native recorded a team-high 54 aces and 379 digs. She's also a two-time CAC Defender of the Week.

"Amaya Morales averaged 3.18 kills per set across 29 matches for the Conquistadors," said the CAC's press release on Morales' Attacker of the Year award. "The sophomore also has recorded 297 digs and 20 blocks."

Notably, senior Ivette Sandoval took home CAC Second Team honors for the second time in her storied Conquistador career. Sandoval led the team in assists with 554 and tallied nearly 200 digs. Sandoval is also a three-time CAC Setter of the Week. Notably, fellow senior setter Taysha Ortega was selected by FNU to the conference's Champion of Character Team.

Coach Huaroto-Luque capped off an impressive awards season for FNU, grabbing his second Coach of the Year Award for the conference in five seasons.

"Huaroto-Luque guided Florida National to a 15-16 record during the regular season and victories in all six matches against CAC opposition this fall," said the CAC Thursday night.

FNU looks for its first conference title since 2021, starting Nov. 14 in pool play at the CAC Tournament.
