Luque’s early-season brilliance earns him CAC Player of the Week

HIALEAH, Fla. (Sept. 21, 2026) — Florida National men's soccer's standout forward David Luque Rivero earned his second career conference weekly honor, taking home the Offensive Player of the Week award for the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC).

Through eight matches, the Seville, Spain, native has paced the team with seven goals, 26 shot attempts and five assists. A former NAIA National Player of the Week, Luque Rivero has returned to form after a slow start against Florida Memorial to open 2026.

"Luque, the offensive recipient, scored a goal and provided an assist in each of the Conquistadors' wins for the week," said the CAC's press release Monday. "The forward attempted seven shots for the week. Luque leads the team with seven goals in eight matches this fall."

Luque Rivero and FNU face the RV Southeastern University Fire tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
