Track commands third and fifth place finishes at the USCAA Small Schools National Championship

INDIANA, Pa. (April 26, 2026) — Conquistador men's and women's track and field finished the 2026 season in third and fifth place, respectively, at the USCAA Small Schools National Championship. Hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Mario Martinez and Wenceslao Ferrin Arias impressed in their individual events, while freshmen Jailyn Otero, Savanna Duperval and Lamaria Williams carried the load for FNU on the women's side.

The men's side of the score sheet saw Martinez take home first in the 800-meter race (1:59.92) while fellow junior Hugo-Augustin Kluczkowski (2:01.24) was third in the 800-meter (2:01.24) and fourth overall in the 1500-meter race (4:21.23). After dominating the hurdles last week at the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship, Ferrin Arias took home first in the 400-meter hurdles (58.36) and in the 110-meter hurdles (15.04). Notably, the Cali, Colombia, native's 110-meter time is a new USCAA record. Marven Cassamajor placed third in the 110-meter hurdles and helped the 4x100-meter relay team earn second place (43.63).

Ferrin Arias also found success in the high jump, posting a mark of 1.70m to place third overall. Freshman Jordan Hall ended the 2026 season fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.49). The 4x400-meter relay team of Martinez, Hall, Nathaniel Jimenez, and Kluczkowski was second with a time of 3:34.83. 

Rookie talent dominated the field for FNU's women's team. Otero was sixth and second in the 100-meter (13.43) and 200-meter (27.64) dashes, and third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:14.45). Ganesia Bogle placed fourth in the 100-meter final (13.41) after a seventh-place finish in the preliminaries. Savanna Duperval was second in the 100-meter hurdles (17.37) and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:17.59).

The high jump saw Lamaria Williams and Keelee Okoro garner second and third place, respectively, with marks of 1.47m and 1.32m. The 4x400-meter relay team of Okoro, Otero, Williams and Mia Betancourt came in second place (4:30.81), as Betancourt finished eighth in the 800-meter (2:42.08).

FNU ended its stay in Indiana, Pa., with 79 points for the men's team and 68 for the women. SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (182 points) took home the women's title, while the United States Sports University men's 207 points crowned them national champions.
