HIALEAH, Fla. (March 23, 2026) — Junior Mario Martinez used a personal record at the University of Miami Hurricane Invite to bring home the first Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award from the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) this season. 

"Martinez, the Athlete honoree, set a personal best in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:55.90 at the University of Miami Hurricane Invitational," said the CAC's press release. "The Miami native won the event last Saturday."

This was Martinez's second straight year competing at the UM Hurricane Invite, earning a third-place finish in 2025 in the 800m with a personal best of 1:56.48 (a 1.38-second drop from his previous best time in the event).

Martinez and FNU are back on the track March 28 for the Nova Southeastern Shark Invite
