Conquistador track earns nine conference titles and eight runners-up at CAC Championship

MIRAMAR, Fla. (April 17, 2026) — Conquistador men's and women's track and field left it all on the Mondo Super X 720 track at the Ansin Sports Complex, placing third and second out of six teams, respectively, at the 2026 Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship.

For the Conquistador women, a second-place finish (123 points) featured five conference champions across jumping and running events. In the women's long jump, Lamaria Williams' mark of 4.52m earned the freshman her first-ever conference title, while fellow freshman Ganesia Bogle earned the top spot in the triple jump as the lone jumper in the event (4.50m). Williams also grabbed a second-place spot in the high jump (1.47m) and the 200-meter dash (27.84).

The women's 100-meter hurdles was dominated by the new titleholder, Savanna Duperval (18.38), and veteran Mia Betancourt ran an excellent 800-meter race and kept a healthy distance between her and the competition for a first-place finish in the event (2:35.44). Freshman Jailyn Otero was named Track Athlete of the Year and added a title in the women's 400-meter hurdles (1:16.69) to a stacked performance in Miramar, Fla. Otero was all over the track for FNU, earning second in the women's 100-meter hurdles (18.89) and the 100-meter dash (13.32).

Keelee Okoro's 400m earned her second place in the race (1:04.76), and in the 4x400-meter relay, Okoro, Otero, Betancourt and Williams ended the race in second (4:49.05).

For the FNU men, Wenceslao Ferrin Arias had an impressive outing across three different disciplines. The Cali, Colombia, native was crowned the CAC Champion in the men's high jump (1.95m), 110m hurdles (14.97), and 400m hurdles (57.59). Both of Ferrin Arias' times in his hurdling events were school records.

Marven Cassamajor took home second in the 110m hurdles (16.49) and 400m hurdles (59.16). Cassamajor, Nathaniel Jimenez, Jordan Hall and Mario Martinez capped off a brilliant day for FNU track, taking home first-place in the 4x400-meter relay (3:31.29).

Notably, Haskell Indian Nations University was crowned CAC Champions for both genders. HINU's Carmen Fields, Eli Adams and Lovie Pulliam earned Field Athletes of the Year (Adams and Fields), Track Athlete of the Year (Pulliam), and Women's Newcomer of the Year (Fields).
