Ten personal records highlight FNU’s 2025 debut at NSU Shark Invite

MIRAMAR, Fla. (Feb. 28, 2025) — On the last day of February, Florida National track and field totaled 10 personal records and two school records in its 2025 season opener. 

The Conquistadors excelled at the Nova Southeastern University Shark Invite, against tough NCAA DII athletes from Palm Beach Atlantic University, Barry University and Lynn University. 

For the Conquistador women, Khy Burdon went to work with personal and school records in the 100M and 200M dash. Burdon's time of 12.67 was the fifth best of the 100M, and her 26.47 performance in the 200M was good enough to place her in fourth. 

Veteran Mia Betancourt's 2:42.64 time in the 800M race was a personal best for the Miami native, and freshman Shaniece Richardson joined Burdon with personal best times in the 100M and 200M at 14.70 and 30.60, respectively. 

Notably, 2024 national qualifier Joelle Baptiste competed in the 400M and had a time of 1:06.27. 

On the men's side of the competition, freshman Donovan Agard made a great impression in his first collegiate meet with a personal record in the 400M dash. The Orlando, Fla., posted a time of 54.57 and Andrew Lebert also impressed with a personal best of 57.06 in the 400M. Lebert also picked up a PR in the 200M, crossing the finish line at 24.81.

Dual sport athlete and men's soccer standout Luis Martinez made his track and field debut with a 12.25 in the 100M and 25.24 in the 200M.
