Martinez and Kluczkowski placed first and fourth in the 800m at UM Hurricane Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (March 21, 2026) — Florida National had two standout juniors impress at the University of Miami Hurricane Invite held from March 20-21. Mario Martinez and Hugo-Augustin Kluczkowski represented FNU in the men's 800m, with Martinez taking the top spot in the event in record fashion.

This was Martinez's second straight year competing at the UM Hurricane Invite, earning a third-place finish in the 800m with a personal best of 1:56.48 in 2025 (a 1.38-second drop from his previous best time in the event). This season was more of the same for the junior in Coral Gables, Fla., claiming a first-place spot with a personal best time of 1:55.90.

Kluczkowski found great success as well with a time of 1:58.57 to end the race in fourth, just .25 seconds off a PR he set at the Southeastern University Invite earlier in the month. Both runners faced tough competition against athletes from the University of The Bahamas and St. Thomas University.
