Track and field opens 2026 at Nova Southeastern Alumni Event

MIRAMAR, Fla. (Feb. 27, 2026) — Florida National's men's and women's track teams laced up their spikes for their first of seven regular season meets Friday, with four athletes posing personal records at the Nova Southeastern University Alumni Invitational.

Newcomer Hugo-Augustin Kluczkowski was one of four Conquistador men to put up personal bests, ending the evening with a 2:01.39 in the 800m. Notably, Mario Martinez finished just ahead of Kluczkowski in the event, clocking in at 1:59.49. Returner Donovan Agard impressed with a 16.16 time in the 110m hurdles against strong wind (4.1) to go along with a 19th-place finish in the 200m (22.58).

Moreover, Nelson De Sousa Veloso raced in his first career 1500m (5:09.99) and 800m (2:21.61) races, while fellow freshman Marven Cassamajor clocked in at 23.97 in the 200m and 54.49 in the 400m.

For the Conquistador women, Mia Betancourt (2:44.05) and Keelee Okoro (2:45.49) placed 17th and 19th, respectively, in the 800m.
