Tennis exhibitions against Barry ended in a pair of 7-0 losses

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Feb. 17, 2026) — Florida National men's (0-0) and women's tennis (0-0) were shutout by the NCAA DII Barry University Buccaneers (4-0, 6-0) Tuesday in exhibitions to open the 2025-26 spring season.

On the men's side, Daniele Trentin and Mick Leyers teamed up for FNU's most competitive doubles match before falling 6-4 to the Barry pair of Leo Caill and Stan De Samucewicz. Dex Leyers and Lukas Nico Kopitzki fell 6-3 versus BU's Roberto Campoverde and Hayze Loop, while Finn Collins and Mats-Jonathan Werner dropped their respective match 6-1.

Mick Leyer's single versus De Samucewicz was the highlight of FNU's play on the singles courts before the newest Conquistadors lost his battle 6-1, 5-7. The Conquistadors would lose all six matches, while returner Anis Kerfah made his 2026 debut in a 6-1, 6-1 defeat at the hands of Loop. This was the FNU men's second-ever match against the Bucs, and they moved to 0-2 all-time in Miami Shores, Fla.

For the Conquistador women, pair Julia Chodkowska and Celeste Deniz Reyes fell in their doubles match versus Valeria Labrador Perez 6-1while Chiara Fiorenza and Valeria Labrador Perez lost 6-2 opposite Juliana Sperb and Lojan Shaker. Despite the defeat, Chodkowska had a competitive match against Brun in singles play before succumbing to the home team's representative 6-4, 6-4.

Barry's Larissa Brasil faced Labrador Perez in a singles court battle where Brasil pulled away 6-3, 6-1, while Julieta Deniz Reyes fell in straight 6-0 sets in her respective match. Fiorenza and Celeste Deniz Reyese exited their matches with 6-2, 6-1 losses versus Whalen and Sperb, respectively.

The FNU women are now 0-5 all-time in Miami Shores, dating back to the 2019-20 season.
