Martinez and Burdon race to CAC weekly glory

HIALEAH, Fla. (April 7, 2025) — Florida National track and field added two more conference awards after Mario Martinez and Khy Burdon were named Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week.

Martinez impressed with three personal records and a school record at the 2025 Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic. His PRs in the 200M (22.61) and the 1500M (4:14.13) place him fourth and second, respectively, in the USCAA so far this season.

"The Miami native had personal best times in the 1,500-meter race (4:14.13) and 200-meter dash (22.61) – the second and third best times, respectively, in the conference this season," said the CAC's release Monday.

Burdon etched her name into Conquistador history with school records in the 200M dash (25.99) and the 100M hurdle. She now has the top performance in the conference so far this season in both events.

"The Orlando native had two record-breaking performances at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic last Saturday. Her 100-meter hurdles time of 15.04 is the best in program history, and her time of 25.99 in the 200-meter dash is a personal and school best in the event," said the CAC.

Martinez and Burdon are set to appear in their final regular season meet on April 11 at the Keiser University Spring Open.
