Track and field totals three CAC Athlete of the Week awards

HIALEAH, Fla. (April 14, 2025) — Florida National track and field had three stellar athletes take home Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors after the Conquistadors' stay at the Keiser University Twilight Meet. This is the final round of track and field weekly awards for the 2025 season. 

Mario Martinez was named the Men's Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, while Lismar Bentancourt and Keelee Okoro swept both of the categories on the women's side. This is the second-consecutive week Martinez has taken home a conference honor and his personal best in the high jump at the KU meet sealed the deal. Bentancourt made the most of her two races, getting season and personal bests in the 800M and the 1500M. 

"Mario Martinez had a personal-best height (1.70 meters) to place fifth in the high jump at the Keiser University Twilight Meet," said the CAC's press release.

"Lismar Bentancourt set two personal-best records in a breakout performance of the 2025 season," said the CAC. "The Valencia, Venezuela, native posted a time of 2:37.03 in the 800-meter race and 5:15.69 in the 1,500-meter race at the Keiser University Twilight Meet."

Okoro jumped her way to a fifth-place finish in the high jump. She also competed in the 200M and 800M. 

"The Coral Springs, Florida, native also recorded a 12th place in the 200-meter dash and was 11th in the 800-meter race," said the CAC press release.

FNU competes in its final regular season tune-up at the St. Thomas University Under the Lights Invite on April 18.
