Burdon grabs another school record at STU

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 18, 2025) — Florida National track and field concluded a stacked regular season with a brilliant stay at the St. Thomas University Under Lights Open April 18. Five different athletes scored personal records, while freshman Khy Burdon broke her school record in the 100M dash.

On the women's side of the meet, FNU placed fifth out of six teams in Miami Gardens, Fla. Along with Burdon's seventh-place finish in the 100M (12.66), Mia Betancourt ended the meet fourth in the 800M with a PR time of 2:38.17. Freshman Keelee Okoro also impressed in the 800 with a time of 2:39.03 for a personal record and a fifth-place finish.

Notably, Daryl Quichimbo (2:56.79) had her personal best showing this season in the 800M, and Karol Padilla did the same in the 1500M (6:14.61).

On the men's side of the competition, Mario Martinez had a season-best mark in the long jump (6.00m) and placed seventh in the 1500M (4:54.67) with his fastest performance this season. Martinez also had a PR in the 400M hurdles (1:01.38), and fellow sophomore Andrew Lebert had a personal best in the 110M hurdles (18.25).

FNU's men's team ended Friday ninth out of nine teams.
