Marty Marrero and Leurs highlight CAC All-Conference awards

HIALEAH, Fla. (Feb. 27, 2025) — Florida National seniors Charlette Leurs and Janelisse Marty Marrero were featured members of the 2024-25 Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams.

Leurs was named the Newcomer of the Year with an All-CAC second team award, while Marty Marrero was a first team honoree.

"Leurs made her presence known for the Conquistadors in the second half of the season to end the regular season by averaging 20.2 points and grabbing a nation's best 16.1 rebounds per outing, said the CAC's press release. "She also recorded 26 steals and 24 blocked shots in her 13 appearances."

The senior from the Bronx, New York, also posted 13 consecutive double-doubles in 14 games with the Conquistadors. She is a three-time CAC Player of the Week and was an incredible addition to FNU this season. Guard Marty Marrero also had a very successful season. In her final season as a Conquistador, she started all 22 games for Florida National. She averaged 18.3 points per game, eight rebounds, and nine blocks.

Marty Marrero was the only conquistador to be named to the All-CAC first team and has also garnered three conference player of the week awards. Notably, freshman Fabiana Nieves was FNU's selection to the CAC's Champion of Character team.
