Cruz Baez and Marty Marrero picked in third and second rounds of 2025 BSNF Draft

HIALEAH, Fla. (June 4, 2025) — Florida National women's basketball had two seniors selected in the 2025 Baloncesto Superior Nacional Femenino (BSNF) Draft, following impressive individual NAIA campaigns last winter.

The BSNF is the top professional women's basketball league in Puerto Rico. 

Winter Garden, Fla., native Kyla Cruz Baez and San Juan, Puerto Rico's own Janelisse Marty Marrero used impressive statistical seasons to jump-start what is sure to be prosperous professional careers on the Island of Enchantment. 

Cruz Baez was the first pick in the third round of the BSNF draft, heading to the Leonas De Ponce. Marty Marrero will make her professional debut with the Pollitas De Isabela after being taken as the second pick in the second round. 

Cruz Baez, in particular, had a great showing in 2025. She averaged 11 points and just under four rebounds per contest. She started 21 out of 22 appearances for FNU and helped the team make the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournament in late February.

Marty Marrero ended her Conquistador career at the top of her game, averaging 18.4 points and just over eight boards. She led the team in assists with 140 in 22 games started on her way to 405 points in a single season.

These stats placed her as the leader in assists per game for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and in the top five in points per contest. 

Marty Marrero's efforts were rewarded with a CAC All-Conference First Team selection and USCAA All-American First Team recognition.
