HIALEAH, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2025) — Florida National women's basketball freshman Maria De Gracia Karamanites was named Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Defensive Player of the Week following a 20-point, six-rebound evening against Webber International University. 

Florida National fell 86-75 to the WIU Warriors last Tuesday, but not before De Gracia put up solid numbers on both sides of the ball. This was the freshman's second CAC Player of the Week award this season, winning it for the first time after leading FNU to a triumph over the Trinity College of Florida Tigers on No. 15.

"Florida National freshman Maria De Gracia, the defensive honoree, had a near double-double performance with 20 points and nine rebounds in last Tuesday's 86-75 loss against Webber International University (Florida)," said the CAC Monday. "The Panama City, Panama, native made 52.9 percent of her field goals and played in 33 minutes.

De Gracia and FNU have a full slate this week, starting with a 5:30 p.m. rematch against Ave Maria University on the road Dec. 3.
