HIALEAH, Fla. (Dec. 8, 2025) — Conquistador women's basketball's standout freshman Jaylyn Laguna earned her first Defensive Player of the Week honor from the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) after a productive three-game stretch.

Laguna helped FNU score back-to-back wins with 16.3 points per game. She went into FNU's 2-1 showing fresh off a 20-point performance in a loss to the Webber International University Warriors. 

"The Pembroke Pines, Florida, native helped the Conquistadors post back-to-back wins against the University of Fort Lauderdale (Florida) and New College of Florida," said the CAC.

"The freshman had 22 points against Fort Lauderdale last Friday and followed one day later with 10 points and nine rebounds to go along with three steals."

Laguna hits the hardwood on Dec. 12 as the Warner University Royals enter Bucky Dent Park for a 6 p.m. contest.
