Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Brenda Bogle

Laguna and De Gracia impressed with 20 points in loss to Webber

HIALEAH, Fla. (Nov. 25, 2025) — Florida National women's basketball (3-4) was unable to come away with a win against Webber International University (3-4) Tuesday, falling 86-75. Webber crashed the glass for 25 offensive rebounds to drop FNU to 0-5 against the Warriors since 2020-21.

To begin FNU's final home game before Thanksgiving, FNU was especially grateful for another strong start from junior Kaylee Llanos. The Hialeah, Fla., native lit up the floor with 14 first-quarter points. FNU fed off this offensive explosion to shoot 56.3% from the floor but found itself ahead just 23-21 at the end of the frame.

To Webber's credit, while FNU relied on their outside game to generate points, the Warriors attacked the basket with Isabel Negron and Jaiden Ross combining for 11 points right at the basket.  Webber's effort was undeniable, as the Warriors posted seven offensive rebounds for crucial second-chance points.

In the second, FNU saw its lead disappear after Webber outscored the home team 23-14. Maria De Gracia Karamanites and Jaylyn Laguna were responsible for 11 of FNU's points in the frame, and six different Warriors made their mark on the box score before halftime. Notably, Camryn Patterson impressed in the second with four rebounds and six points to help put her team ahead 44-37 entering the third.

Webber and FNU pushed the pace in the third, each team landing its blows in transition. The Warriors were able to sustain their lead despite six points from Valeria Castro on a pair of contested threes off the bench. Laguna was also a problem with eight points on a couple of made threes herself, but Webber outscored FNU 26-24 behind 12 combined points from Sophya Barreiro and Adaya Montalvo.

FNU seemed to run out of gas defensively in the fourth and was outrebounded 13-6 at a crucial juncture of the contest. Patterson was especially impressive in the quarter, picking up eight rebounds and an assist to end her night with a stellar triple-double of 14 points, 19 rebounds and 10 dimes. Moreover, FNU had a chance to cut the lead with eight shots from the charity strip, but went 4-8 from the line, while De Gracia added six points in the final quarter.

Laguna and De Gracia each had 20 in the loss, while Llanos still had 18 points despite a four-point second half. De Gracia was one rebound shy of a double-double while Llanos tallied five steals and five assists.

Up Next: FNU makes the short trip to Ave Maria, Fla., for a 5:30 p.m. game against the Gyrenes.
