Luque named CAC Newcomer of the Year, FNU tallied six All-CAC honorees

HIALEAH, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2025) — Florida National's men's soccer team earned six All-Conference nominations across first and second teams from the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC). Junior transfer David Luque Rivero was named Newcomer of the Year following a stellar 2025 season. 

First team honorees for FNU are Luque, Christian Omar Hernandez and Juan Pugin. Luque, a former NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week, scored nine goals and contributed nine assists to tally 27 points. He accounted for three match-winning goals. Luque attempted 43 shots and started 12 matches for the Conquistadors. 

Hernandez is the backbone of FNU's defense, commanding six shots, three assists and a goal in 2025. Captain and junior midfielder, Pugin recorded his first career All-CAC First Team selection behind eight assists and four goals in 16 matches. Pugin is also FNU's nomination to the CAC Champions of Character Team. 

FNU's second team nominations are defender Agustin Nicolas Morales, midfielder Fabio Zandona Tajra and forward Filipe Sette Ribeiro. Sette Ribeiro led FNU this season with 14 goals and 33 points. The sophomore from Brazil had four game-winning goals and became just the fourth Conquistador named NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week.

Morales had a spectacular season for FNU, defensively helping FNU garner five shutout wins in his 15 matches played. Zandona Tajra had a breakout season offensively, posting three goals and four assists. 

FNU seeks a deep postseason run, starting with a round one match at the CAC Tournament against Hesston College on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m.
