Conquistador cross country records a strong showing at the STU Bobcat Invite

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Sept. 11, 2026) — Florida National cross country completed another night race hosted by a Sun Conference institution, with Hugo-Augustin Kluczkowski and Lucas Vieira Vassimon taking the course for the first time in 2026 at the St. Thomas University Bobcat Invitational. Notably, Lismar Bentancourt built on her impressive performance last week to place in the top five of the women's 6K.

The Conquistadors shared the 6K (women) and 8K (men) course on the campus of St. Thomas University with talented NCAA DII competition. Barry University, Nova Southeastern University and Lynn University all descended to Miami Gardens, Fla., for the early evening race. New College of Florida and the STU men were the other NAIA schools in contention, as the Nova Southeastern Sharks took the top spot in the men's and women's team competition.

Bentancourt placed the highest of any FNU athlete, posting a time of 23:57.7 to complete the race in fifth place. The Valencia, Venezuela, native was 10 seconds off a personal best, yet still recorded the second fastest 6K for an FNU woman in school history. Loralai Lambert made her debut on the FNU roster, ending a productive evening with a 28:37.0 time (27th place), a personal record for the freshman.

The Conquistador men had more faces lined up at the starting line this time around, as track standout Kluczkowski led the team with a 32nd-place finish (31:14.2). Mario Martinez was not far behind, clocking in at 31:54.7 to place 38th in his first 8K of the young season.

Freshman Ricardo Pereira finished 58th (37:08.6), while Orane Daley ran 43:30.6, earning a 63rd-place finish. Notably, first-year runner Vieira Vassimon was just behind Daley with a time of 45:58.9 (64th place).
