HIALEAH, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2025) — Florida National's freshman defender Angelina Carreno earned her first career conference honor after being named the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Defender of the Week. Carreno helped FNU score a 1-1 draw against the Florida Memorial University Lions last Thursday. 

"Carreno, the defensive recipient, was a key defender as the Conquistadors collected a 1-1 draw against Florida Memorial University last Thursday," said the CAC's press release Monday.

The Port St. Lucie, Fla., native played in all three of FNU's games in 2025, posting a strong defensive showing against NCAA Division II Barry University and the NAIA Warner University Royals. 

Carreno and FNU have two home games on deck this week, starting with a 12:30 p.m. battle against Ave Maria University tomorrow.
