Martinez ends one-man show at Hurricane Invite in third place

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (March 22, 2025) — Florida National sophomore Mario Martinez earned a personal best in the 800 meter portion of the University of Miami Hurricane Invitational. Martinez was the only Conquistador to compete in Coral Gables, Fla., and made a great impression at the NCAA DI meet.

Martinez topped his record in the 800m by 1.38 seconds, ending the race behind Marshall University's Kazuma Bowring and unattached runner Jonathan Jones. Martinez, a Miami native, previously recorded a PR in the 800 at the Sun Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship last year (1:57.86).

Up Next: Track and field will be in Daytona Beach, Fla., starting April 4 for the Embry-Riddle University Running Elements Classic.
