AVE MARIA, Fla. (Oct. 11, 2025) — Florida National's men's and women's cross country teams competed in their second-to-last race of the 2025 regular season, with both teams placing sixth in a field littered with NCAA DII competition. 
In the women's 5K, Lismar Bentancourt was the fastest Conquistador woman in the field and finished eighth with a time of 19:58.4. Bentancourt kept up with multiple runners from Ave Maria, Saint Leo University and Barry University. Mia Betancourt was the second FNU runner to cross the finish line with a time of 23:39.7, while 
Daryl Quichimbo placed 51st (25:39.8). 
Freshman Savanna Duperval and 
Ganesia Bogle rounded out FNU's score, placing 62nd (28:55.1) and 65th (33:03.8), respectively. 
The men's four mile race was a great showing for junior standout Mario Martinez. The Miami native ended the morning in the top 30, posting a time of 22:53.6. Joandy Olivera was not far behind his teammate, recording a time of 24:04.1 to cross the finish line in 43rd place. 
Luis Martinez had a time of 25:28.1, finishing five spots ahead of senior 
Michael Kipchumba (26:29.0).
Dual sport athletes Jose Richard Bomohagasi and Nelson De Sousa Veloso were 74th (28:51.0) and 75th (29:08.5), respectively.
