(April 3, 2026) — Florida National (19-15) ends 2026 2-2 against the Trinity College of Florida Tigers (12-16), splitting two games Thursday afternoon. Baseball fell 5-3 in game one against the USCAA newcomers before heading home with an 8-3 victory in the books. TCF's two-run victory was in comeback fashion, with FNU capturing a 2-0 lead with a score from Jesus Sosa on a wild pitch in the first and a sacrifice fly by James Snyder in the second. FNU held a 3-1 lead after TCF was able to run in Brent Hamblin on an RBI groundout in the third. Abel Gutierrez's run in the fourth gave FNU that two-run edge, but Anthony Borja put his team back in contention with an RBI single and scoring on a costly hit by pitch in the fifth. Juan Angeles's two-run double capped off a four-run inning for the home team, which was enough to claim the game-one win. Relief pitcher Nicholas Gioia picked up the loss while starter Braden Parmley went 4.2 innings for a team-high two strikeouts. Game two saw FNU set the tone early, with Alejandro De Armas grabbing a solo home run in the second to put FNU ahead early. Oscar Orta and Gino Gazzillo were able to score their runs in the second before a Joshua Baker single forced in Christopher Rivera in the third. An RBI walk for Snyder put FNU up 5-0, and TCF did not have enough left in the tank to will it way back into rhythm. FNU utilized a hit by pitch in the sixth, and a score from Ben Shaffer on a passed ball to secure its advantage down the stretch, as winning pitcher, Antonio Guzman, went 5.2 innings with nine strikeouts and two runs allowed.
