Baseball falls short in 8-3 loss to TCJ Eagles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 17, 2026) — Florida National baseball (22-17) allowed eight runs through four innings in a five-run loss to the Trinity College of Jacksonville Eagles (15-19) Friday. Shortstop Jesus Sosa had the best outing at the plate with two hits, while pitcher Cole Philips had a team-high four strikeouts.

TCJ used an explosive fourth frame to secure a win over the visiting Conquistadors, tallying seven runs in the inning. Two-RBI doubles by Gavin Williams and Gadriel Burgos highlighted this run, while Logan McGann and Richaun Amaro connected on one-score singles apiece.

Starting pitcher Braden Parmley was responsible for seven TCJ hits and six runs scored before Philips took over the duties on the mound. The Canadian national allowed two earned runs and three walks through the final 4.2 innings of action.

FNU managed to close the game strong with three unanswered scores through the fifth, sixth and ninth frames. Dwayne Dabian scored James Snyder on a single to center field, and Abel Gutierrez's sacrifice fly to right field bought enough time for Alejandro De Armas to make it safely across home plate.

Sosa had FNU's final RBI of the evening, scoring Snyder's second run of the evening on a base hit to right field. TCJ's win featured 12 hits and an error. The Conquistadors recorded six hits and two errors.

Up Next: FNU looks to regain control of the series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
