Baseball earns second conference series win, sweeps Hornets Friday

SUMTER, SC. (April 10, 2026) — Conquistador baseball (22-16) relied on great hitting and a 12-0 run late to grab 10-5 and 15-11 wins over the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Morris College Hornets (8-14) on Friday. Alejandro De Armas connected on five hits through both wins, including a home run and a double in game two.

To start things off in Sumter, South Carolina, FNU jumped to a 5-2 lead through four innings and never looked back. De Armas went three-for-four from the dish while Joshua Baker and Jesus Sosa combined for three RBIs and three hits. Morris tallied ten hits and two errors in the second loss to FNU in the series.

Starting pitcher Julio Amoedo went for five innings, with two strikeouts and a pair of walks. Evan Dalmau and Jose Chavez took care of the final two innings, combining for three strikeouts from the bump.

In game two, FNU was behind early 11-2 after three innings, but used its great hitters to mount an unprecedented comeback victory. Christopher Rivera and De Armas were clutch with one home run apiece, and De Armas was stellar with a team-high six runners batted in. Gino Gazzillo, Baker (2), De Armas and James Snyder all posted clutch doubles in the win, as FNU tallied 14 hits and no errors.
