(March 8, 2026) — Florida National softball (14-10) made it ten consecutive triumphs Sunday with wins over Grace College (5-8) and Bellevue University (5-8) in the early afternoon. The Conquistadors exited their first of two weekends at the Space Coast Spring Games 6-0. Game one against Grace College saw the Conquistadors go scoreless through the first four innings of the contest before breaking things open in the fifth. FNU went on an unanswered four-run burst through the last three innings of the game and held Grace to just one run in the bottom of the seventh to deny an unlikely comeback. Pitcher Sophia White was stellar once again from the circle, and FNU kept errors to a minimum (one) in its 4-1 victory. Against Bellevue, FNU found itself playing from behind for the first time in a while, allowing two Bruin runs in the second. Bellevue's Emma Crisman got things rolling with an RBI double to score Breanne McMurtry before Crisman made it safely to home plate on a Kaitlyn Fisher's single. To her credit, game two starter Brunella Beteta didn't give her opposition much else the rest of the way. The senior ended the afternoon with four strikeouts and a pair of walks. Despite 10 Bruins hits, FNU's defense held up when they needed it most. Offensively, FNU kept their bats engaged late and were able to take control of the game in the fifth. Ariel Obregon was the catalyst in the frame, running in Ciara Santiago on an RBI single to left field before scoring a run of her own on a double delivered by Alissia Vega. Catcher Alyssa Julien was able to give FNU the lead with her base hit to center field as BU was held scoreless for the remainder of the match. Up Next: FNU returns to Viera, Fla., for two more games on the road March 11. Print Friendly Version
