Baqai impresses in 124-70 win over Trinity College of Florida

NEWPORT RICHEY, Fla. (Feb. 3, 2026) — Conquistador men's basketball (6-13) grabbed back-to-back wins for the first time this season after defeating the Trinity College of Florida Tigers (1-19) Tuesday night. Omar Baqai had a season-best performance on the road, recording a near triple-double of 20 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in 23 minutes.

The Conquistadors used their bench to their advantage against a Tiger squad with six men available at the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center. Six out of eight FNU players who came off the bench ended the night in double figures, paced by a dominant night from Baqai. Orlando Martinez posted 16 in 20 minutes on the court, while Coreem Hollingshead had 12 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Notably, Mekhi Hudson-Dillard went 4-11 from the three-point line for a 14-point evening in the boxscore. Cameron Johnson had the best night for an FNU starter with 11 points and four steals on defense.

Trinity had no answers to FNU's weapons on offense and relentless defenders. FNU also took care of the ball the entire game with just seven turnovers in 40 minutes. The Conquistadors tallied 15 steals while TCF's Matthew Suarez and Adelyas Reaves combined for 47 of TCF's 70.

FNU is now 2-0 in as many games opposite the Trinity College Tigers.
