Softball falls to RV Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2026) — Florida National softball (4-10) tackled a tough doubleheader against the RV Keiser University Seahawks (14-2), falling in game one 13-0 after five innings and 6-5 on a walk-off single.

Game one was FNU's first shutout of the 2026 season, getting on the board in the first with a three-RBI double by Sarah Phipps. Later, Phipps scored her first run of the afternoon on an error from catcher Alyssa Julien. Keiser added four more runs to its lead in the second, thanks in part to RBI singles by Phipps and Faith Campos.

FNU was left scoreless despite hits from Gianna Hall and pitcher Sophia White. White and Brylea Rusler split a four-inning campaign for FNU, each earning one strikeout and allowing a combined 13 hits. Keiser rattled off five more scores in the third to end game one after just an hour and twenty minutes.

To their credit, FNU fought back in the second game to take a 4-3 lead on an impressive performance in the third inning. FNU and game two starter Brunella Beteta gave up three runs in the first inning, but an RBI single from Hall in the third kicked off a big stretch for the Conquistadors. Madisyn Garduno and Bianca Bartow followed Hall's RBI with a one-run single of their own before FNU took its first lead of the afternoon after Carollann McClelland was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

FNU maintained its advantage until Keiser stormed back in the fifth with an RBI base hit by Genesis Iglesias and a home run from Jordan Brantley in the sixth. Bartow came up clutch in the seventh with her second single of the day to tie the match up once more, but left the door open for Keiser to walk off this battle at the bottom of the seventh.

Macy Schaaf was able to deliver Keiser's fourteenth win of 2026, recording an RBI single to walk off a 6-5 victory on home clay. Beteta's fourth loss of 2026 was highlighted by three strikeouts and just one walk allowed through six innings.
