FNU dominates with shutout wins over Florida Memorial

WESTON, Fla. (Feb. 26, 2026) — Conquistador softball (6-10) used brilliant performances from leadoff hitter Isabella Silva and home run leader Gianna Hall to post 6-0 and 10-0 triumphs versus Florida Memorial University (0-6) at home.

Hall grabbed her fourth home run this season in game two (third against FMU) while Silva took care of business in game one with a two-for-three performance from the batter's box.

Game one saw FNU get on the scoreboard after an error by Mariana Gongora bought time for Kyra Rigozzi to run safely across home plate. Rigozzi made her presence known once again in the third on an RBI double to left center field before scoring her team's third run of the afternoon on a fielder's choice. FNU went on to score the game's last three runs in the fourth, thanks to RBI singles by Rigozzi and Alissia Vega, along with a run from pinch runner Lainie Schroeder.

Pitcher Sophia White backed up her team's lead with stellar pitching from the circle, ending the afternoon with nine strikeouts and just two walks. Her shutout victory was her third in eight appearances.

Game two was a dominant show of force from FNU, as the Conquistadors delivered a 10-0 win in five innings after Hall put her team up 3-0 in the first with a home run to left center field. Elizabeth Owens and Silva grabbed RBI singles in the frame as FNU entered the top of the second up 6-0. FNU's excellent awareness on the bases was on full display, especially when Brianna Marte stole third base and used an errant pass by catcher Kamille Lucas to stride home to make it 8-0 in the third.

Hall and Schroeder connected on one-run singles in the third and fourth, respectively, as the Conquisitadors cruised to their first home sweep of 2026. Notably, Brunella Beteta was cooking from the center circle, ending the game with eight strikeouts, no runs allowed and one walk.

Up Next: Softball returns to Vista Park for a noon matchup against Ave Maria University on March 3.
