Conquistadors sweep Bobcats in 19-run afternoon

HIALEAH, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2026) — Florida National baseball (8-5) made it three straight wins against the Bryant & Stratton College Syracuse Bobcats (0-7) after 13-4 and 6-1 triumphs Friday. Jesus Sosa had a great game one with four hits, while Fausto Sanchez went two-for-three for two RBIs in game two.

To start the morning at Ernest R Graham Park, FNU held a 3-0 advantage through two innings after Alejandro De Armas and Abel Gutierrez connected on RBI singles while Noe Davila scored on an error from catcher Victor Pena. Pena made up for his mistake with a home run in the top of the third, but FNU was able to get two more scores on the board in the bottom of the third on runs by Christopher Rivera and Kylan Bolick.

BSC hung around with an RBI single by Dylan Hodgeman in the fourth, but FNU stomped out any hope of a comeback with a seven-run burst through the fourth and sixth innings. This offensive run was highlighted by a three-run homer from Sosa and an RBI single by the Conquistador shortstop.

The Bobcats got a couple more runs in the top of the seventh, but pitcher Armando Jimenez closed out the frame with two strikeouts. Starting pitcher Antonio Guzman was electric on the mound with five strikeouts and one earned run through four innings.

Game two was a more conservative game for FNU offensively, but the Conquistadors posted five of their six runs in the first and second innings. Gutierrez and Sosa scored early runs on a couple of errors from the BSC infield before Sanchez knocked a ball into play for an RBI double in the second. BSC's lone score of the contest was an RBI base hit by Cesar Lluberes as FNU used great pitching by Julio Amoedo, Braden Parmley and Nicholas Gioia to ice the game in crunch time.

Amoedo got the start on the mound, posting six strikeouts and no walks in five innings.

Up Next: FNU meets the Florida Memorial University Lions Feb. 26 for a nine-inning game starting at noon.
