Rivera’s grand slam highlighted a 27-run afternoon for the Conquistadors

HIALEAH, Fla. (Feb. 18, 2026) — Conquistador baseball (6-5) posted a 27-run, 24-hit rout of the Bryant & Stratton College Syracuse Bobcats (0-5) Wednesday, led by a 5-6 performance at the plate from senior Christopher Rivera. FNU and BSC will meet again Friday for a morning doubleheader to wrap up the series at Ernest R Graham Park.

Florida National was electric from start to finish against the Bobcats, getting on board in the bottom of the first on a one-score triple by Jesus Sosa. A passed ball allowed Sosa to make it a 2-0 ball game while he sat at third base in the same frame before pinch runner Greyson Martin scored on an error from the Bobcat infield.

The second was even more productive for the Conquistadors with five runs, thanks in part to a two-RBI home run by Alejandro De Armas, a one-run single from Noe Davila, and a double by Rivera. BSC made it a bit more interesting in the third, capitalizing on errors from FNU's third baseman and shortstop to score its first two runs of the afternoon.

Left fielder Darwin Salvador followed his teammates' efforts with a double up the middle for two unearned runs. Salvador scored a home run in the fifth, but, unfortunately for the Bobcats, his homer came after FNU went on a 10-0 run through the third and fourth innings.

During the stretch, River connected on his first of two home runs in the fourth inning while FNU kept the wheels turning with five RBI singles heading into the fifth. Rivera made noise once more with a grand slam in the fifth, and, notably, Ben Shaffer doubled down the left field line to score sub Fausto Sanchez in the sixth, making it a 27-7 game.

Pitcher Brandon Saunders picked up the win with one strikeout and no earned runs through three innings.

Up Next: FNU meets the Bryant & Stratton College Syracuse Bobcats once again this Friday for a noon doubleheader.
