De Gracia’s stellar second half earns her CAC Defensive Player of the Week

HIALEAH, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2026) — It took just one game into the 2026-27 season for Florida National's Maria De Gracia Karamanites to take home Defensive Player of the Week for the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC). This is the sophomore's fourth career defensive award from the CAC.

"De Gracia, the defensive honoree, was exceptional for the Conquistadors by posting a team-high 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds to nearly record a double-double performance against the University of Virgin Islands," said the CAC's press release Monday.

"The Panama City, Panama, native put together a stellar fourth quarter, with eight points and seven rebounds, as FNU nearly completed a comeback in a 72-69 loss."

De Gracia and FNU take on two more games this week, facing Beacon College on the road Tuesday and Ave Maria University at home Saturday.
