Conquistadors execute 3-2 comeback win over Haskell

HESSTON, Kan. (Oct. 9, 2026) — Florida National women's volleyball (4-11) had a statement victory on day two of the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Classic, outlasting a tough Haskell Indian Nations University (5-23) team 3-2. FNU conceded the first two sets to Haskell before rattling off three consecutive victories to come off the court on top in Hesston, Kansas.

Against Haskell, FNU looked to shake off a less-than-stellar opening day at the CAC Classic. FNU fell 3-0 to reigning conference champions Simpson University before claiming a crushing 3-1 loss to Fisher College in prime time. Early tournament struggles were the hallmark, however, of set one for the Conquistadors, who exited the opener with a 27-25 loss.

A kill by Mya Dalgai and an attacking error by Diana Stetsko solidified Haskell's win in a close first set and laid the groundwork for a dominant 25-13 victory in the second set. HINU held FNU to just five combined kills from Carolina Goncalves, Stetsko, Sara Lizano Joya, Chriselle Ferdinand and Lily Hitchcock. Haskell, on the other hand, tallied 14 kills and just four attacking errors.

This was just the beginning for the Conquistadors, using 22 kills in the third and fourth frames to tie the match. Stetsko found her stride in the third with three kills and ended the match with a team-high four blocks. Notably, Ferdinand's third termination of the set saved FNU from a sweep, and the Conquistadors continued their push for a win in the fourth.

The Conquistadors recorded 11 kills en route to a 25-10 win in set four, led by four massive swings by Goncalves. Haskell could not come up with answers down the stretch, with FNU concluding an impressive win with a 15-11 triumph in the fifth. Stetsko's 12th kill of the match and back-to-back attacking errors from Haskell were all it took for FNU to record its seventh program win over HINU in nine matches.

In FNU's first conference win of 2026, Ferdinand posted a team-high 14 kills, while Daviona Bernard impressed with 15 digs. Pelin Alci was the backbone of FNU's offense with 38 assists, and Goncalves was responsible for 13 critical kills.

Up Next: FNU has its final two matches of the CAC Classic tomorrow, starting at noon against Carolina University.
