Florida National honors Ariana Long before Senior Day match against Webber

HIALEAH, Fla. (Oct. 31, 2026) — Florida National volleyball (7-16) had a lone senior honored prior to its final regular season match of 2026, as Ariana Long accepted gifts and shared moments with former teammates at Bucky Dent Park Saturday.

Following the festivities, FNU faced Webber International University (15-15) for the third time this season, falling this time in three close frames to the visiting Warriors. WIU garnered a 1-0 match lead with a 25-17 win in set one, was able to hold FNU at bay in set two, 26-24, and sealed the deal in a definitive 25-16 win in set three.

The start of the match was a typical meeting of these two squads: a close tug-of-war early on before one team put together enough plays to come out on top. Webber was the one to do so, capitalizing on six attacking errors for the Conquistadors. Chriselle Ferdinand and Sara Lizano Joya combined for seven of FNU's 14 kills in the opener, but it was solid kills by Kalyn Morgan and Cristina Marrero that ended the first.

Game two looked like a great jumping-off point for an FNU comeback, as the Conquistadors owned a 7-1 lead to get things started but soon trailed 19-16 thanks to a Marrero service ace. Webber used a service error from Long, a broken set by Pelin Alci, and a kill by Marrero to claim the second frame. WIU managed to steal the set with just 12 kills to FNU's 17.

The final game of the match was a more dominant showing by the visiting team, holding FNU to seven kills to go along with seven costly attacking errors. Webber leaped to a 16-12 lead and never looked back, using an attack by Long that just missed the left back corner of the court to capture its 15th win of 2026.

Notably, Alci had another great match with 28 assists, while Ferdinand (10) and Lizano Joya (11) combined for 21 kills. Long was great in her final home match, posting a team-high 18 digs to go along with three kills.
