Volleyball takes care of Trinity 3-0 to open USCAA Tournament

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. (Nov. 5, 2026) — Florida National volleyball (8-16) delivered a statement win over Trinity College of Florida (14-7), Thursday to stay in the winner's side of the USCAA National Tournament Bracket. This was FNU's second win over the Tigers this season and featured a 12-kill afternoon for Chriselle Ferdinand.

The opening set saw Florida National allow just five TCF kills on 32 attempts. The Conquistadors claimed the frame 25-15 behind 11 kills. Camila Polanco (two), Ferdinand (3) and Lily Hitchcock (3) paced the team in terminations, while first team USCAA All-American Pelin Alci recorded five assists to get things started. Joliessa Perez and Sara Lizano Joya combined for 12 digs as the Tigers looked to turn things around in set two.

FNU did not let up, however, posting an even more dominant frame to take a 2-0 lead on a 25-11 win in game two. TCF's attacking percentage landed at -.053. A kill from Ferdinand and an attacking misstep by Sophia Senegal was enough to put FNU in control heading to the third.

Eight attacking errors for TCF did not help its cause in the third, as FNU boasted a 25-13 win in game three to capture the opening match of the tournament. FNU closed out the Tigers on eight kills and just three errant attacks. Ferdinand's twelfth kill of the match and a service ace by Alci made it 24-12 late, but it was an attacking error from Sadie Jones that ended play in Pennsylvania.

Along with Ferdinand's 12 kills, Lizano Joya had a big showing in the final two games to end the match with eight kills and eight digs. Perez posted nine assists and 12 digs while Ariana Long paced the team with 12 digs. Alci was responsible for 21 assists and Hitchcock had a great showing with four kills.

Up Next: FNU goes head-to-head against the winner of Salem University versus Mid-Atlantic Christian University tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
