Gibbs shines in 3-3 tie against RV Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 3, 2026) — Florida National (7-4-1) produced another classic thriller against rival Keiser University (5-2-2) Saturday. The Conquistadors earned a 3-3 draw against the Seahawks on the road, its first deadlock against KU since FNU's second-round NAIA Tournament exit in 2023.

Florida National knew it had a tough task heading into its second match of the week, and did not help its cause by conceding a goal in the first five minutes of play. KU's Xabi Souto was responsible for the Seahawks' early edge, set up brilliantly by passes from Mikael Baisotti and Mohammed Mouzoune.

But FNU has been in this exact spot before this season, and the Conquistador response came five minutes later. Michael Olszewski crossed a pass into the box that took a fortunate bounce off a KU defender for an own goal. With the match deadlocked at 1-1, a high-scoring battle was in full swing one minute later when Gabi Villafane scored in the 10th. Notably, Keanu Does and Mouzoune were credited with assists, but Keiser's lead was destined to be short-lived.

FNU's forward Dylan Robert Ray Frank Gibbs came through with the second equalizer of the match for the Conquistadors, burying a touch pass by Olszewski with 23 minutes on the clock in the first half. At the break, FNU recorded two critical shots to Keiser's 14, as keeper Ignacio Pacheco ended a stellar half with eight saves and a clutch stop on a penalty. Keiser also forced five corner kicks compared to just one from FNU.

The second half quickly opened with another big breakthrough from Gibbs, as the sophomore forward once again connected on a shot attempt orchestrated by Olszewski to put his team in the driver's seat, 3-2. Keiser was able to escape with a 3-3 tie thanks to a Nicolaj Kamarin stunner assisted by Mouzoune and Fami Konate in the 53rd.

Pacheco added three huge saves in the second half to bring his total to 11, as FNU was once again held to just a pair of shots in the closing minutes of the match. FNU moves to 1-3-3 against Keiser since its first trip to West Palm Beach, Fla., in 2015.
