FNU drops 1-0 match to Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 12, 2026) — Conquistador men's soccer (8-6-1) exits the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Classic with its second loss in as many days, falling to Georgia Gwinnett College (7-4-1) 1-0.

Florida National and Georgia Gwinnett have a long history of epic battles in Lawrenceville, Ga., with GGC pacing the series 2-4-1 after Monday's win in the Peach State. Florida National came into the seventh iteration of this rivalry fresh off a 2-0 loss to Bellevue University but were unable to keep a hungry Grizzly squad off the board for long.

The first half was a scoreless deadlock, highlighted by four shots from FNU and two from the Grizzlies. GGC's stifling defense also led Gabriel Martins and Joshua Orue to earn yellow cards in the opening period. Ignacio Pacheco recorded two saves in the frame, and it took a six-shot second-half for GGC to clinch the match.

In the 55th minute, Pedro Nunes executed the unassisted game-winner to send FNU back to the Sunshine State with an 0-2 record. Kylian Behem was assessed the lone FNU yellow card of the match along with GGC's Jean Malilo and Kevin Diaz.

These two conference losses in Georgia moved FNU to 3-2-0 against CAC opponents in 2026 and GGC ended the long weekend with its second seventh win.
