Men’s soccer falls to Bellevue Bruins 2-0

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 11, 2026) — Florida National men's soccer (8-5-1) was outmatched by the Bellevue University Bruins (9-4-1) to open a two-match stay at the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Classic hosted by Georgia Gwinnett College. FNU was held to three shots (one on goal) while goalkeeper Ignacio Pacheco made five saves.

BU got on the board in the first half after Juan Lagares laced up his fifth goal of 2026 in the 12th minute. Lagares' stunner was assisted by David Arciga and Adam Sherwood, the lone shot of four Bruin attempts in the first half to find the back of the net. FNU, on the other hand, was relatively quiet on offense, with Michael Olszewski's attempt that sailed wide right tallying all of FNU's shots in the opener.

The second half saw FNU garner a pair of shots from Juan Ricaurte and forward Dylan Robert Ray Frank Gibbs to no avail. BU made it a 2-0 affair on a 62nd-minute score from Sherwood, assisted by Lagares and Adriene Robles. Bellevue posted seven corner kicks in the match compared to three from the Conquistadors but also amassed 16 fouls.

Foul trouble for the Bruins also meant yellow cards for Stanley Richardson, Anwar Yusif and first-half hero Lagares.
