Conquistadors halt losing skid in win over Haskell

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2026) — Men's basketball (5-13) broke through with a massive win Saturday night over Haskell Indian Nations University (6-18), 76-72. The Conquistadors scored their first triumph versus a fellow Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) school this season thanks to 48 points from their bench.

In the first half, FNU entered the break up 39-36 after sub Hasmar Francois exploded for 16 points. The Conquistadors controlled the glass to outrebound Haskell 22-17 while FNU's Serge Beauvoir III and Ronald Fernandez combined for all 10 points from FNU's starters in the period. Coreem Hollingshead and Mekhi Hudson-Dillard were also productive with their time on the court, scoring seven and five points, respectively.

Haskell leaned on 11 from Jesse White but shot 38.2% and connected on just two of six threes attempted. With the game still in reach and neither team turning over the ball at a high rate, FNU needed to keep its offense on high alert to hold a Haskell comeback.

To its credit, Haskell was able to climb its way to a tied game at 51 and forced FNU to take a timeout in order to regroup its efforts on both sides of the ball. What followed was clutch free throws from Fernandez and an eclectic dunk from Hudson-Dillard with 9:07 on the clock. This was enough of a boost to keep FNU in the driver's seat, and the Conquistadors finally had time on their side to close out their first win since December 6.

Francois ended a stellar night with 24 points, six rebounds and three steals while Beauvoir tallied 16 points. Notably, Fernandez had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Up Next: Florida National is back on the road Feb. 3 versus Trinity College of Florida at 6 p.m
