Men’s basketball falls short against FC on the road

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (Jan. 20, 2026) — Florida National men's basketball (4-11) had a tough night scoring the ball against the Florida College Falcons (5-16), dropping its third consecutive Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) game in two weeks.

In the opening half, FC went into the break with a 47-27 lead off a 13-point half from guard Aiden Wall. Along with Wall's impressive half, Malik Beauford attacked the basket for 12 points and a perfect four of four performance from the free-throw line. FC lived on the charity stripe, posting 12 easy points in 14 attempts.

Meanwhile, FNU shot 32.4% en route to a double-digit deficit. The Conquistadors especially struggled from the three-point line, going 0-11 in the opening 20 minutes. Cameron Johnson was a highlight reel for the Conquistadors in his second start of the season, posting nine points and two boards in 14 minutes. In the interior, center Stipe Sokol grabbed six points off the bench while Gary Adams crashed the glass for six points and two rebounds.

FC controlled the tempo in the middle of the period, using its defense to force six FNU turnovers. The Conquistadors looked to clean up these errors and find the bottom of the basket with greater efficiency when the second half commenced.

To its credit, FNU cut the Falcons' lead to 12 halfway through the second half behind a nine-point 10-minute run from Johnson. Hasmar Francois also came alive for six during that stretch, and Serge Beauvoir III was great on defense, doing the little things to clear the way for FNU to secure rebounds and using his active hand to disrupt what was a juggernaut Falcon offense in the first.

Unfortunately for FNU, FC went on an 8-0 run over three minutes that was finally halted on a layup by Johnson with 6:16 on the clock. FC played the time remaining to its advantage, ending the period and its fifth win of 2025-26, shooting 39.3% from the floor.

Notably, Johnson had his best night of the season with 24 points and six rebounds while Adams headed home to Hialeah, Fla., with 11 points, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Ronald Fernandez had a quiet night with four points, but did his part on the glass with a team-high 13 rebounds. Houston Culpepper and Jonathan Norman combined for 12 points and 10 Conquistador boards.
