TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (Sept. 26, 2025) — Florida National women's volleyball (8-10) claimed massive 3-0 wins against the NCCAA's Trinity College of Florida Tigers (1-8) and Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) rival Florida College (8-12) Thursday and Friday. FNU ended a nine-game losing streak against FC that started during the 2022 season.
Thursday, FNU made the trip up to New Port Richey, Fla., for its 11th consecutive win over the Tigers. In the opening set, the Conquistadors posted a stout 25-22 win to take a 1-0 lead. Despite a close game in set one, FNU handled the next two matches with comfortable 25-16 triumphs in the hour and ten-minute match.
The following day, the Conquistadors used their victory over TCF to come out ready to go against the reigning CAC Champions. On the court of Conn Gymnasium, the road team took set one 25-17 behind four combined kills from
Kitula Amaya Morales and
Chriselle Ferdinand. FC put themselves in trouble early with 10 attacking errors in the frame, posting a -.056 attacking percentage. The Falcons fell behind 16-11 off a service error by Destiny Calderon and never really recovered. Freshman
Grace Leffler ended things on a thunderous kill, and FC looked to regroup in the second.
What followed was a very competitive set of volleyball as both teams traded blows back and forth until a kill by Cassidy Lee made it a 24-24 affair. FNU stayed composed, using an attacking mishap from Margarida Almeida and a kill by Morales to take a hard-earned 2-0 match advantage.
In the third and final frame of the afternoon, FNU conquered its first conference match for the 2025 season behind an impressive six-kill set from Morales and three successful attacking attempts by
Ariana Long. FC tied the match at 17 all on an attacking error from Ferdinand, but FNU closed out the set on an 8-3 run.
The last time FNU defeated FC was during the 2021 CAC Championship match. FNU booked its first trip to the NAIA Opening Rounds and took home its first CAC title with a 3-0 win over the Falcons in Nevada, Missouri.
